If your premises has a water meter, you'll get a measured bill for the water you have used over the billing period. On this page, we break down how we calculate your bill and provide information on charges.
If you have a water meter, your bill will be made up of two parts - Non-Household measured charges, and a service charge.
What do you pay for?
You’ll see the following services on your bill:
- Water charges: This is the cost for the water you drink and use
- Sewerage charges: This is the cost for taking away and cleaning the water you've used
- Fixed charges: This is a fixed daily contribution towards the costs of running reservoirs, treatment works, pipelines and meters.
How much do you pay?
We work out how much you need to pay based on the meter reading at the end of the billing period.
Using the readings you give us from your water meter we will work out how much water you have used and charge per cubic meter*.
Water - £1.8366 per cubic meter
Sewerage - £2.8212 per cubic meter
We will send you a bill twice per year based on the water you use. We'll aim to bill on an actual reading but if we are unable to read the meter, we'll send a calculated bill.
You can view our 2026-2027 charges here to see how much you will be charged.
What is a calculated bill?
If a meter read isn't received a bill will be calculated based on your previous usage.
Our calculating program is very accurate. You can just pay your calculated bill as normal. We'll aim to read the meter in the next six months.
Service charge
The service covers the cost of reading and maintaining your water meter, and replacing it when it becomes necessary.
